Triglav - Slovenia
67Triglav the highest mountain in Slovenia - the country on the Sunny side of the Alps. Triglav is 2864 m high and it is located in Julian alps.
Its name means Three-head - because of three headed shape. The second head is Mali Triglav, which is 2725 m high.
Triglav is also a national symbol of Slovenia. You can find triglav on slovenian coat of arms (also on the flag) and the triglav is
also on slovenian euro coin for 50 cent.

On the iniciative of baron Ziga Zois, four brave men from Bohinj: Stefan Rozic, Matija Kos, Lovrenc Willomitzer and Luka Korosec climbed on Triglav on 26 August 1778.
There is a monument to those four men in Bohinj.

I wanted to go on the top of Triglav with my friends this summer but unfortunately something came up...well, looks like I will have to do it in 2011.
And btw, they say that ''you are not a Slovene if you did not climb up on the top of Triglav at least once in your life''

The Alja Tower or Triglav Tower is a tower and a storm shelter, situated on the summit of Mount Triglav in Slovenia.
Aljaz Tower - Aljazev stolp
On the top of the Triglav, there is a small tower, mado of metal. It is called Aljaz tower after the priest Jakob aljaz, who bought land at the top of the Triglav and build this tower. Now it is a symbol of Sloveneghood.
Slovenian flag was raised at the tower on proclamation of Slovenian independence in June 1991.
The tower is proclaimed as a site of national cultural importance for Slovenia.
